Nature... mellifluous!!!
Do you relish travelogues?
Then keep going..... this is for you.
After the tiresome summer exams, I was looking forward for a respite from the hectic city life. A friend of mine wished to make a visit to the land of coconuts, "Kerala". I shrugged my shoulders and simply nodded and we started off delightfully towards the port city Cochin.
It was a five hours journey from the cotton city Coimbatore. We landed at the Cochin port. The backwaters of Cochin is a place of scenic beauty. One can feel relaxed watching the serene, tranquil silvery waters. It induced in me a feeling of melancholy as we stepped on the muddy ground after the long boat drive. We then took a walk at the "royal musical walkway", enjoying the melodies and the evening breeze.
We spent the cold night at a luxurious appartment hotel located in the prime area of Cochin. One can find many such multi-storied buildings in the city lodging several tourists from all around the world.
The next morning, before dawn we checked out of the hotel and hired a taxi. We learnt from the taxi driver that it would take around an hour to reach Chalakudi, a tourist spot located at Thrissur district where the most beautiful falls of the country is located. We travelled through the ranges of Sholaiyar forest. The forest shelters a variety of wild animals and has a large number of resin and rubber trees. Before we reached the falls, we had to take a brisk walk through the narrow stony path about a kilometer long leading to the cascade of waters. On the way, we also fed the bulky monkeys which were jumping from tree to tree with sweet yellowish bananas. And finally we neared the most awaited spot! wow!! thrilling!!! aewsome!!!
The charm of the Athirampally cannot be described by words, starting calmly from the high ranges and crashing through gorges overhung with trees,a feast to the eyes, this waterfall is one of the best places in India to re-capture a real sense of the classical idea of the "Picturesque"...not just calm and sweet, but something wild and natural. I was on cloud nine when I catched the panoramic view. I kept gazing at the beauty of nature.
Well... thats it.. and now I can tell you this falls must be visited at least once in life-time.
A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.
