One amoung thousands!

Each one on earth would have his/her own interests. Well, tell me your interest now. Which of the fields here would you choose for your past-time?

1. Music
2. Dance
3. Drama
4. Sports
5. Reading
6. Surfing
7. Movies/T.V
8. Chats

If you are trying to spell any of these numbers from 1 through 8, you may swing to the next blog as I am trying to pull the attention of artists through this writing.

As I was hanging around the lonely streets of Chennai on a brisk summer morning, my legs stopped in front of an old deserted building with a notice which read "THE ART GALLERY". I was amazed for a moment to find such a board in the residential area of the metro and something urged me to get into the spot. On stepping insde I learnt from an old man, who had almost crossed his seventies that this place was undertaken by the government and he was a part-time receptionist. He added that the building contained some of the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and was almost visited once a moon-light. I then decided to explore the gallery and rolled down a few coins to own a piece of paper strip which was called the 'the entry pass'.
As I walked through the long veranda, I found several framed hangings in rugged state. As I was gazing at them, one of the paintings drew my attention. A lady with a lamp and her shadows alive!

This painting of the great painter carried away my mind.A traditional Indian women holding a lamp and her shadow falling on the wall behind her.. It depicts reality, the picture lives, hats off to the creator maestro!

Shadow... is the ‘other’... it is darkness... dusk...an outline... all that is the periphery of self ...but Ravi Varma gives a new meaning to the gloomy shadow... a sense of rejuvenation in A Lady carrying a Lamp... through the dusky shadow ... establishes a new and fresh identity with loads of dignity and determination in eyes... eyes that are hugely determined to make a space...in the candlelight... her new identity is superimposed onto the viewer’s eyes because of her shadow that complements her otherwise meager presence.

One amoung the several paintings of the Raja has in my mind painted a love for art. My hunger is multiplying day by day and my search for art would go life long.
