The Bay!

Melange of merry and melancholy!

My doors are always open for the last day of the week. Welcome le Samedi! My drowsy eyes were staring at the google doodle of the day. My fingers were hovering on the keypad while the other hand held a black coffee mug. Filter coffee tastes best on Saturday evenings!

"Diya... Are you ready?" , called out aunty.

"Er... aunty, 5 minutes", I sprang out of the couch.

I am pretty sure that the above statement is practically impossible! For any girl to be ready to leave, it takes at least three minutes to decide on the dress, two minutes to choose the shade of eye shadow, two more to choose the glamorous handbag and a quater of an hour for the final touch. We had plans of spending the evening at the beach sands.

It was almost dusk when we neared the Kannagi* statue at the Marina. I could hear the gush of sea breeze amidst the galloping of horses. I could see surf and tide amidst paper kites on air. I could smell pearls amidst the city's own fragrance.

“You know, something...”, aunty said as we walked on the beach sands. “When your sister was young, I used to come here every evening with your uncle after office”.

“Is it so aunty?”

“Yeah, It feels like...... hmm...” , aunty sank in her own thoughts. A sudden loud music bought aunty back to the world. “Ah yes... It feels like flying!” , she added.

“Baby I feel like flying....” , it was a lady’s iphone which was doing the duty of a thesaurus. Thanks to Simbu* for the service!

We walked further down to reach the waters. The maiden clash of the tide with my toes delighted me! I was on cloud nine. Teens around me were as exited as I was. Childern had fun with parents. The waves kept wavering, I was enjoying the panorama of the sea, the sway of a boat and the brightest ever moon!

“Aunty, look at the moon!” , I said with full of excitement!

“Oh yes. It is pournami* today. And that is why the tides are this high”, said aunty.

It cannot be easy for anyone to compare the Bengal Bay with the tranquil waters of the Pacific. At least, not for me. Why does the ocean keep roaring? Well, I could parallel Kannagi’s historic shriek with the blue’s howl. But what about the great Indian screech on the twelfth month of two thousand four?

“Akka...*” , someone shook me. “ Pebble made ear-rings. Nice nice ear-rings, good necklace. Please buy. No eat. Two days “. She gave a timid appearance. Well, were her parents a victim of the bay?

What a transition I felt within myself! I was no more exited. My electrons were back to the ground state.

“Are you ok? “ , aunty broke the silence.

“Yes aunty”, I paused. “All is well, but not every moment”.

“What do you mean”, she softened.

“Life, it is, MERRY AND MELANCHOLY”!

Will e-mails vanish?

The later years of this decade saw people hooked on to their PCs, mostly with the social networking sites - orkut, twitter and faceboook, especially teens. Reconnecting with childhood friends, relatives, colleagues, sharing useful and unwanted information, birthday wishes, chatting, quiz, puzzles, games.... and what not?
When messages could be conveyed easily via such sites, a question arises. What is the need for e-mails?

In 90s, the development of electronic mail technology reached the pinnacle. While the wireless communication involved high costs, people preferred highly encrypted mailing techniques to send messages.

A leading scientist from the University of Kent in the UK has warned that e-mails can be wiped out within the next ten years due to the rise of social networking sites.
Professor David Zeitlyn has said that the social networking sites are becoming easier and accessible through mobile. So, mailing messages through instant messaging or social networking sites is a good option to look for.
Even celebs and politicians are fans of those faster and interesting methods. He says, "e-mail took 20 years to develop".

Even though social networking sites have turned out to addict teens, it is also a major cause of trouble. Privacy issues are a primary concern. Photos could be easily copied. The whole lot of friends are aware of the messages exchanged.

Confidential documents can be transferred using e-mails only. A one to one interaction is possible. Mailing system offers a high storage capacity of around 7500Mb or higher, providing spam option.

Social networking sites definitely cannot outperform fruition of two decades and that there is no possibility of the question "will e-mails vanish?"

World Ocean Day

The United Nations has officially declared June 8th as the World Ocean Day.

June 8 there has been an unofficial celebration of the oceans around the world for 12 years. World's ocean covers 70% of our planet, yet less than 1% of our ocean habitat is protected.
  • It is critical to educate the public, and promote stewardship among children and adults alike. Ocean environments around the world are collapsing, primarily due to over-fishing, pollution, and unsustainable coastal development. The ocean's rich diversity of life belongs to all citizens of the world.

  • Lets join hands to protect one of the most valuble resources.

    A letter from earth...

    -------------,
    Solar system.
    Hello,
A warm hug to all. I have been visualising human life from the days of Adam and Eve. They started off with nothing but with woods and venomous creatures around them. Had I not given rise to the apple tree on my shoulder, neither a civilisation nor the Newton's theorey would have been educed.
I, was initially loaded with a handfull of breeds. As time advanced, I was becomimg heavier and heavier. Day by day, I was being exploited. The metallic crumbs which i was dumped with was being converted into swords, weaponds and ornaments. People started combating and i had to grip several breathless bag of bones. At a point of time, when Einstein came out with his contribution E= Mc^2, I sensed a great increase in the percentage of carbon being dumped into me. I still loose a fraction of my weight almost every day. Parts of my body are bloodsheaded. I can do nothing but errupt or cyclone semioccasionally! Well... and now I am extremly dandered up... thwarted .... foiled ..... balked..... and irked.
This is my premier appeal. I wish to stay in conciliation, weigh optimal and would like to extend my kindness as long as I am cognizant and zoetic. Aideu to one and all.
    Love,
    Earth.

    Nature... mellifluous!!!

Are you an ardent lover of nature?
    Do you relish travelogues?
Then keep going..... this is for you.

After the tiresome summer exams, I was looking forward for a respite from the hectic city life. A friend of mine wished to make a visit to the land of coconuts, "Kerala". I shrugged my shoulders and simply nodded and we started off delightfully towards the port city Cochin.

It was a five hours journey from the cotton city Coimbatore. We landed at the Cochin port. The backwaters of Cochin is a place of scenic beauty. One can feel relaxed watching the serene, tranquil silvery waters. It induced in me a feeling of melancholy as we stepped on the muddy ground after the long boat drive. We then took a walk at the "royal musical walkway", enjoying the melodies and the evening breeze.

We spent the cold night at a luxurious appartment hotel located in the prime area of Cochin. One can find many such multi-storied buildings in the city lodging several tourists from all around the world.

The next morning, before dawn we checked out of the hotel and hired a taxi. We learnt from the taxi driver that it would take around an hour to reach Chalakudi, a tourist spot located at Thrissur district where the most beautiful falls of the country is located. We travelled through the ranges of Sholaiyar forest. The forest shelters a variety of wild animals and has a large number of resin and rubber trees.

Before we reached the falls, we had to take a brisk walk through the narrow stony path about a kilometer long leading to the cascade of waters. On the way, we also fed the bulky monkeys which were jumping from tree to tree with sweet yellowish bananas. And finally we neared the most awaited spot! wow!! thrilling!!! aewsome!!!

The charm of the Athirampally cannot be described by words, starting calmly from the high ranges and crashing through gorges overhung with trees,a feast to the eyes, this waterfall is one of the best places in India to re-capture a real sense of the classical idea of the "Picturesque"...not just calm and sweet, but something wild and natural. I was on cloud nine when I catched the panoramic view. I kept gazing at the beauty of nature.

Well... thats it.. and now I can tell you this falls must be visited at least once in life-time.
A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.
